WHERE
CULTURE MEETS CLIMATE
WEβRE ADDRESSING THE CULTURE GAP
Cultural heritage and storytelling are often overlooked as transformative enablers for climate action, despite their significant impact on shaping worldviews, influencing behavior and catalyzing change.
The Entertainment + Culture (E+C) Pavilion bridges this gap by cultivating an ecosystem to harness the power of culture-based climate action and implement the Sustainable Development Goals across the creative industries. Although COP28 saw historic commitments to transition from fossil fuels, the Global Stocktake Text did not recognize the socio-cultural systems underpinning the fossil fuel economy. Nonetheless, leadership from the UAE and Brazil led to the formation of the Group of Friends of Culture-Based Climate Action (GFCBCA), with over 25 countries ratifying the Emirates Declaration.
