Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand
In partnership with Creative Migration, The Convergence and Green Beyond Magazine, we’re co-designing a few days of programming at Bangkok 1899 to host the first E+C Pavilion in Southeast Asia from June 28-29.

The E+C Pavilion program will follow the Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand (CCAT) conference organized by the EU National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Cluster in Bangkok, the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), and Creative Migration from June 26-27. There is an opening event at Soho House Bangkok on June 25 and a Closing Reception at Bangkok 1899 on June 27, 2024.

CCAT Opening Reception
Soho House Bangkok | 7-10 pm
CCAT Organizing Partner Creative Migration will host the conference’s Kick-Off Evening Reception at Soho House Bangkok. This reception will provide a first opportunity for conference attendees and partners to meet and learn more about the coming two days of the conference. The evening’s programme includes an introductory presentation, networking cocktail, panel with the organizers and keynote speeches by the EU National Institutes for Culture, Creative Economy Agency, Creative Migration/Bangkok 1899, the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion, The Convergence, and more!

Creative Economy Agency | 10 am-1 pm and 2-5 pm
Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand conference hosted by the CEA at Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC). CCAT conference will take place from June 26-27 at Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) in Bangkok and will unite European and local festival organizers, cultural institutions and sustainability experts. The event will focus on sharing sustainable practices for transforming festivals and cultural sectors and will develop a toolkit with guidelines for creating and promoting eco-friendly cultural events.

CCAT Closing Reception
Bangkok 1899 | 7-11 pm
The Creatives for Climate Action -Thailand will conclude with a closing reception at Bangkok 1899 with Creative Migration. The closing reception will include a performance by Thai artist Notep and will be catered by Na Projects’ Urban Refugee Kitchen program. The reception will have light programming including final keynotes, a review of key conference outcomes and Notep’s musical performance.

11:00-12:30 / Catalyzing Culture-Based Climate Action in Thailand: Our opening will feature a reception event with local ministerial authorities, the UNFCCC RCC in Asia-Pacific, and regional stakeholders from the creative industries, setting the stage for a day of insightful discussions and networking.
Speakers include: Jens Radschinski (UNFCCC), Kanitha Kasina-Ubol (The Siam Society), Michael Schemeiser (EUNIC Cluster), Moe Moe Lwin (SEACHA), Sasiyada Naowanondha (Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and more!
14:00 - 15:30 / Mapping Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action in Thailand: This strategic session hosted by the ECCA UNFCCC's Sectoral Initiative will map out current efforts and identify gaps in the creative industries across Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region. It will also foster strategies and new partnerships.
16:00 - 17:30 / Gamifying Climate Action: This session is an entry into the world of gamified mediums and interactive experiences within climate and social justice realms. A newly launched climate card game, Chatty Changemakers will introduce their ethos and mission of sparking insightful conversations while stating the importance of gamification in climate action.
17:30 - 19:00 / Impact Storytelling Workshop: Session designed to empower participants by enhancing their narrative skills to communicate climate urgency and solutions through cultural expressions. Facilitated by Daniel Cervenka and Elise Orlowski from The Convergence.
19:30 - 21:30 / Crystal Bowl Sound Healing: 2-hour session of serenity and relaxation to conclude the first day of our E+C programming. Mindfulness event curated by Sati Space and Community Lab.

SATURDAY, JUNE 29
E+C Pavilion at Bangkok 1899
11:30-13:30 / Imperfect Environmentalism in South & Southeast Asia: Panel discussion hosted by Green & Beyond Magazine addressing the challenges of perfectionist narratives in environmental advocacy.
Panel moderated by Nasrin S. Maesha (G&B Mag), featuring speakers, Shoummo Ahnmed, (G&B Mag), Kittikun Saksung (Global Youth Biodiversity Network), Janjaree Chianwichai (Humane Society International), Gunjan Nanda (E+C Pavilion).
14:00 - 15:30 / Navigating Climate Crisis Stories From News to Popular Culture in Thailand: This informal talk circle, hosted by CCCL Film Festival, will include Thai journalists, filmmakers, professionals in TV and digital media, a climate change-focused film festival, and a Thai cultural heritage organization, as well as those in environmental and climate fields. They will share perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of climate storytelling in popular culture and discuss how to bring the reality of the climate crisis to a broader audience.
Speakers include: Walailuk Chomnonsoong (Thai Public Broadcasting Service), Ploythida Ketkaew (Digital journalist, TODAY), Patiparn Boontarig (Film director and writer, “Solids by the Seashore”), Sippotai Ketjinda, (Global Youth Biodiversity Network for Thailand), Kritsada Boonchai (Secretary, Local Development Institute), Jarunee Khongsawasdi, (Siamese Heritage Trust Manager, The Siam Society), Busakorn Suriyasarn (Advisor, Changing Climate Changing Lives (CCCL) Film Festival).
16:00 - 18:00 Audiovisual Sovereignty and Media Production Workshop: Masterclass with Kirsten Wessel and Sauntr Media. Participants will create a short climate story during this session and collaborate to acquire new media literacy skills.
19:00 - 22:00 / Climate Joy + Pride Closing Party: A celebration of Pride, culture and sustainability with performances from local drag talent and comedians featuring eco-friendly vendors. Featuring performance set by a renowned multimedia Bangkok artist, baitong~xystems.

CREATIVE MIGRATION
Creative Migration, an international arts organization, is co-organizing CCAT. Its mission is to bring together cultural and climate diplomacy with a special focus on collaborative community building through intersectional practices. Its flagship space is Bangkok 1899 in Nang Loeng.
